This role is responsible for the strategic learning program and instructional design of the Epic training curriculum for assigned application(s). Facilitates end-user training on the proper use of the application for activation, release and upgrade changes, optimization requests, project rollouts, new employee orientation, etc. This position leverages creative approaches to training content delivery, such as simulations cases, e-learning delivery or other methodologies. Additionally, the ID/PT may build, test, and maintain the Epic training environment as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years experience with curriculum development, instructor, educator or facilitator of learning programs is strongly preferred
  • Skils and experience with adult education
  • Multimedia education tools (e.g. Adobe Captivate and/or Camtasia) experience preferred
  • Certified in at least one Epic application (expired or up-to-date), 2-3 years of experience in Epic as SuperUser or part of the implementation. If no direct Epic experience, 5-7 years of related experience
  • Open, approachable demeanor to listen and address others’ questions or concerns, as well as approach ideas with an open mind
  • Takes ownership of work activities with accuracy, efficiency and timeliness
  • The ability to communicate information clearly and concisely to trainers and trainees when speaking and in writing. This includes targeting the amount, style, and content of the information to the needs of the receiver
  • Develop and deliver formal presentations
  • Able to read a text, identify major points, make inferences, and draw conclusions that accurately reflect the material
  • The ability to work without close supervision, taking ownership of work activities, and ensuring training sessions and supporting materials meet Epic standards

Role Objectives

  • Assist in the development of curriculum, training plans, and teaching Epic applications
  • Participate in the development and validation of the training environment and the testing of the production (live) environment
  • Collaborate with the Epic Training Manager and other Principal Trainers on input for training and training materials
  • Develop skills assessment program for the Epic system
  • Evaluate the results of the skills assessment and observations to review and revise training as needed
  • Provide employee education based on assessment of learning needs of the learner
  • Coordinate logistics associated with training delivery preparation activities such as copying and assembling printed materials, set-up, maintenance of training rooms, equipment preparation, post-training, clean-up, etc.
  • Update client LMS for class attendance
  • Conduct training and assist the principal trainers during end user classes, on-going training, and upgrade/functionality enhancement training
  • Communicate changes and enhancements of the Epic EHR to the end users
  • Independently lead ongoing training and act as the primary support of the EHR
  • Utilize feedback from end user surveys to improve training
  • Assist with application support testing/training activities as directed, such as facilitating personalization labs for providers or other attendees
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both in writing and orally
